I saw the recent post on SHAZAM and thought I would share this with the group. I originally posted this in February 2012. ____________________________________________ Captain Marvel Jr.: Sigh. Superboy: Whats wrong pal. Captain Marvel Jr.: I just heard that DC is changing Captain Marvels name. Superboy: What...Why? Captain Marvel Jr.: Yea. His name is SHAZAM now. DC said its because people that dont read comics think thats his name and that they dont want to confuse anyone. Superboy: Now Im confused. I know that the Beatles were fans. He is mentioned in the 1968 Beatles song The Continuing Story Of Bungalow Bill, written by John Lennon: Deep in the jungle where the mighty tiger lies, Bill and his elephants were taken by surprise, So Captain Marvel zapped him right between the eyes ... Zap! Captain Marvel Jr.: Yea but what has me worried is whats going to happen to Mary Marvel? Is she going to be Mary SHAZAM, Ms. SHAZAM or what? And what about me SHAZAM Jr. just doesnt have the same ring to it. Or maybe we wont exist anymore. I should have known something was up when they gave my costume to Superman. Superboy: They cant get rid of you. If it wasnt for you Rock and Roll wouldnt be what it is today. Captain Marvel Jr.: Did someone hit you on the head with some Kryptonite? Superboy: No. Now hear me out. Elvis Presley was a big fan of yours and styled his trademark haircut after yours and some of Elvis stage outfits (with a half-cape similar to those worn by you and Captain Marvel) and his TCB logo (with a Marvel-esque lightning bolt insignia) also show inspiration from Captain Marvel Jr. and Elvis childhood collection of Captain Marvel Jr. comic books still sits in the attic at Graceland, with a copy of Captain Marvel Jr. #51 (1947) placed on the desk in the recreation of his childhood room. Many of the best in Rock and Roll have said that Elvis was there inspiration, just like you inspired him. Captain Marvel Jr.: So you dont think they will get rid of me? Superboy: I dont think so. But what do I know, I havent existed since 1986.
