I saw the saddest sight this morning when I went to Freds to buy - TopicsExpress

I saw the saddest sight this morning when I went to Freds to buy puppy pads and its weighed on my mind all day. An elderly bag lady -- something I hadnt seen since moving here from Mobile, AL -- walking down Highway 22 toward Gleason. I realize there are homeless folks in every state, but you just dont see them in Dresden (or if they are, it isnt obvious they are homeless...except maybe for the town drunk I used to know, who moved away). She was probably about my mothers age -- maybe younger -- and I am guess that she probably all her earthly belongings with her -- in not one cart, but two. She would push one way ahead, park it, walk back and get the other one, then repeat the steps. I started to stop and ask her if I could give her a ride or help her in some way but I didnt bother -- I was too busy rushing to get my stuff done. I thought about driving down 22 after I got back from Greenfield to see if I could find her, but I blew it off. Shes still weighing on my mind 12 hours later. Ill say a special prayer for her tonight...and if you pray, please consider doing the same if you would. We just never know what a person has been through that has brought them to where they are.
