I saw this open letter, and since it is titled open, I feel it will not be a bad idea to share. Pls lets be fair in our comment. Honourable Member, Representing Osogbo / Irepodun / Olorunda & Orolu Constituency, Federal House of Representatives, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. Attention: Hon. Engr. Lasun Yussuf Dear Sir, OPEN LETTER - ISSUES AFFECTING IFON –OROLU COMMUNITY A. Preamble: I am constrained to forward this Open Letter not in my capacity as the National Publicity Secretary of Ifon-Osun Progressive Union, but on discretionary behalf of the entire progressive indigenes of Ifon-Orolu Kingdom at home and abroad, who is affected, or stand to benefit from issues stated therein. I am one of your unnoticed and ardent fans without any linkage to political affinity. Beyond this incontestable fact, I was one of those few that nominated you for your recent INTEGRITY AWARD during 2014 IPU National Fiesta. Although, some people openly challenged the decision to compensate you with such a commendable recognition, but your dealings and relationship with the representatives of IPU cannot erode your unshaken integrity position. Notwithstanding, there are so many raw information that deserve clarification! Besides, there are pending vital questions begging for answers on issues affecting the people of Ifon-Orolu Kingdom. Most of the issues could have been tactically raised for discussion at 2014 IPU National Fiesta ceremony, but your failure to present without proxy at same occasion, coupled with my unsuccessful attempt to personally meet you warranted motive for sending this Open Letter. It has been a custom overtime that issues occur while people pretend and later to react apart from translating it to history...... I personally detest this practice because I do believe that “the hottest place in hell shall be reserved for people that kept silent during critical period.” This may not be good and beneficial to the people as well; Hence, my resolution to sing the song from our people and volunteer to circulate your response to all progressives of Orolu both at home and in the diaspora. B. COMMON PERCEPTION OF OROLU PEOPLE ON PERSONALITY OF THE MAN; ENGR. LASUN YUSUFF To be candid, the common perceptions of people about your personality are as follows: a. Engr. Lasun Yussuf, an ex- dynamic student of Ifon/ Erin community High School and a brilliant contemporary of Alhaji Muhammed Oyedeji, Hon. Toyese Ojo, Mrs. Folasade Adewoye (Nee Olagoke) and HRM Oba Al- Maroof Adekunle Magbagbeola (The Paramount Ruler of Irepodun / Orolu Traditional Council and the Olufon of Ifon-Orolu Kingdom). b. Engr. Lasun Yussuf who was elected as part of political bandwagon benefit during political re-alignment era on assumption of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola goodwill. c. Engr. Lasun Yussuf, a political personality that is almost in accessible and unreachable by the people of his constituency, including aforementioned contemporaries in (a) above. d. Engr. Lasun Yussuf, a political personality that is not interested in issues concerning overall development of Ifon-Osun. C. SPECIFIC ISSUES AFFECTING THE PEOPLE IN OROLU LOCAL GOVERNMENT There are barrage of issues affecting the development and welfare of our people and these has led to frustration and hopelessness in the expected performance of our political leadership because it seemed as if most of our elected and appointed representatives are not keen about people interest. 1. The deplorable condition of Osogbo / Ilobu / Ifon / Ogbomoso Road is a major concern. The case of Ojutu mini bridge that was constructed since colonial era is a source of big shame to all of us. 2. Epileptic power supply in Orolu Community has become habitual way of life in Ifon. At times, there may not be light for five (5) consecutive days. For instance, there is no light during last Ileya festivity in Ifon, while there was light in environs; particularly, Ilobu and Erin. 3. The abandoned federal projects like Nigeria Police Housing Scheme in Idi-Ogun, Ifon, Federal Health Care Hospital in Owode and Rural Electrification project issues that are begging for attention. 4. We are sincerely proud that you could use your revered and political influence to employ some indigenes of our constituency into Federal Civil Service and other parastatal. However, no genuine indigene of our Orolu Local Government era benefited from such gesture! 5. The circulating story from the public corridor that you are using your influence as a distinguished Federal Representatives and as a notable figure in “FORA” (Friends Of Rauf Aregbesola, a powerful political nucleus that controls political direction in Osun State; to suppress supposed dividends that might benefit people of Ifon-Orolu. The impression is that part of this resultant effect that denied all indigenes from Ifon to hold any meaningful political position under administration of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesolas` administration up till date. 6. There are convincing impressions that you are denying our people with the right sense of been accountable to them for reason we cannot imagine. It is has beyond rumour that you have no duty of service to the people of Orolu Community apart from a few minor based on personal ground. 7. There are report that you were not interested in restoration of separate State Assembly Constituency for Orolu despite a recent ruling on 28th May, 2014 by a Federal High Court in Osogbo that our suppressed separate constituency should be restored as an outcome of our resolved case in suit no FHC/OS/CS/10/2013 between Orolu Local Government and INEC. D. WARRANTED CLARIFICATIONS In view of the issues raised above, it is honestly not unwarranted for your distinguished personality to please respond from your perspective to enable balanced reporting. It will be gratifying if you could establish your position on notable specific highlighted cases. Whilst, I am not a fool that expect and tend to cry for perfect personality trait; I would like to get accurate photographic effort, interest and perception on vital issues for the record and general awareness. This will enable clearer public knowledge and discard possible ill- motivated political propaganda by your unsuspecting enemies that may tap the meddling rumour as cheap blackmail. E. CONCLUSION I assure to volunteer dissemination of your privilege clarification information in the spirit of fairness and subsisting personal interest I have for you. On a final note, I wish to remind you that “if a man is called to be a street sweeper, he needs to sweep well, just the way Muhammed Alli fought and Fela Anikulapo composed music, so that heaven and earth will pause to say.... Here lived a great sweeper, who performed well. Sir, I have never over-ruled any of your achievements but our people need to hear your action voice in a clearer term. Please accept my best regard. Yours sincerely, adelaja Prince Jide Akinyooye.
