I scheduled some posts about this passenger rail issue for later. But here is a real live person on the line telling you that without public support, you can sloppy-french kiss goodbye ever having the chance to ride in WiFi equipped, modern train cars at $15 a fare in coach all along OKC to Tulsa. All said, and it was quite the mouthful, you should add this event to your FB calendar, even if you cant attend, help raise awareness. Details on how losing the Sooner Sub line to the very entity that let it become derelict and abandoned (BNSF) is on that event page. But lets just say BNSF is the reason Oklahoma owns the line, and a local business, Stillwater Central, is the reason that line has even been rebuilt and now prospers to the point that passenger rail service is even a possibility. Oklahomans, that the very company that let it fall apart to being with, wants it back says that our State is selling itself short if it is sold back to outside interests. It is through the hard work of others that the line has become what it is today, and it will be through the work of many that it continues to develop into the rail it was meant to become. Also bear in mind that for the past 30 years ODOT (Oklahoma Department of Transportation) has been charged with the responsibility of developing passenger rail. It is sad to say, but there are competing interests in ODOT. Its director has been quoted as saying that ODOT is not in the business of rail. What does that say about a State department that is charged with a responsibility it says its not in the business of doing? What does it say about us if we dont demand accountability and better public policy? One thing is for sure, well have less money to do stuff if we dont have more affordable transportation options. Plus this doesnt help improve Oklahomas image of striving to be more public transportation friendly. #fact NO SALE OF STATE RAIL ASSETS https://facebook/events/264162667098620/
