I see a lot of people saying what Brittany Maynard did was wrong. They think the Death with Dignity Act is some terrible anti christian thing. People who think its gods place to take the ill. People who called her a coward for giving up. I see all these comments and just wonder what kind of idiot wrote them. I recently stumbled across this comment that I think everyone should read. I watched a beautiful christian woman die of cancer once. She withered down to skin and bones. She was so skinny, the bones almost poked through her thin skin and developed sores no matter how many times we changed her position. Her skin bruised in the places you touched her, even if it was just to hold her up. She was hungry and thirsty but whenever we gave her food, she choked and whenever we gave her a drink, she would vomit across the room. I have no idea how a body can make urine or fecal matter when it isnt getting fed, but hers did and she cried like a baby every time we had to clean her up. No matter how many pain killers they gave her, she moaned and groaned in her sleep as the cancer ate away at her nerves and tissue. She lived in agony for months, far past the time anyone thought was humanly possible. When I sat with her at night, I felt like a torturer. It was the most brutal, inhumane thing I have ever seen in my life and I still feel guilty for not smothering her with her pillow. SO... for all of you who think that what she did was awful, go sit with a dying friend or family member. Watch them waste painfully away. And if you can still say that what Brittany did was wrong, then you are a sick individual.
