I see the posts... reminiscing of a year past, whether it be a good or bad reflection, but almost always with hopes that the next year will be better. Of course New Years Day is a human convention with tomorrow being no different than today and yet... for most of us it brings the hope that we can change, atone for our past years infractions, and work to achieve goals that we have for ourselves that maybe this year were just out of reach. Maybe tomorrows the day we start that new diet, stop smoking, stop drinking, or have a new positive outlook for life in general. With my powers of prediction... tonights New Years Rocking Eve will be heavily loaded with commercials for gym memberships, weight loss pills, nicotine replacement, and any number of other things to pray upon our seemingly innate desire to better ourselves. I know the pessimistic comments of some saying nothing ever changes on New Years Day - but- as per usual- I submit my frequently unwanted 2 cents- and I posit for you that every day is a chance to change, a chance to do better, a chance to fix what had gone wrong. I know for me... the last few months in particular have been a back slide into bad habits and I had forgotten (as so many do) those once strong words that were so fresh on new years eves past that tomorrow will be better ... fall on deaf ears come early december. Maybe New Years is that needed chance to self reflect with a quanitative measure of ones self. A moment of collective thought of a year that was and what that can mean for the year to come. With that being said- I look forward to the clean slate of what tomorrow brings... the new chance, new challenge, and hope. So for myself- as well as for all of you and your families and loved ones- have a happy new year- and best of luck on your goals for all of your tomorrows.
