I see the writers point, but I disagree. First off, the country - TopicsExpress

I see the writers point, but I disagree. First off, the country that gave the world Howard Stern, Jersey Shore and the phrase Extreme Makeover isnt better than squat. Secondly, while we have had a lot of haha, silly Russians memes over the years (which is a big step up from Rocky IV), this is the first trend in criticism aimed directly at the very, very corrupt government. If these were the least expensive games hosted in 20 years, these criticisms wouldnt exist. Its the fact that these are problems that reasonably shouldnt exist, given the price tag on the event, that first engendered the hashtag. Also, lets remember that this whole thing is one people group trying to influence the policies of a foreign sovereignty. No foreigner has the right to change the policies of a sovereign nation. Often the citizens lack that right. One is certainly free to disagree with said policies, but to take action to try and strong arm a foreign sovereignty into behaving the way you want them to, no matter how reasonable, is the definition of imperialism and reasonable grounds for war. So, when a group is attempting to sway a foreign government, perhaps a bit of public shaming is one of the better options available.
