I seem to be on fire tonight!!.... Please read the post below if you are receiving benefits, not everyone is entitled but if you are then this is worth a look..... A new Government driven initiative, the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) is designed to help tenants on specific benefits and a low income, could help you too. Select NW is offering all of this FREE to private landlords with qualifying tenants: FREE Boiler. Why? Select NW is supporting the energy companies in achieving their obligations (ECO) set by the Government as part of the domestic energy efficiency programme. Everyone contributes to the costs of ECO through their energy bills but it is targeted at the people that most need the help. What qualifying criteria must my tenant meet? To qualify they must rent a property from a private landlord (though the scheme is also open to homeowners too) and someone in the household should be in receipt of one of the benefits below. • Pension Credit • Child Tax Credit and the income on their award letter is £15,860 or less Or (in combination with additional qualifying criteria which we will assess when we speak to your tenant) • Working Tax Credit and the income on their award letter is £15,860 or less • Income Support • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance • Income-related Employment and Support At what point will I know if my property qualifies for a free boiler? We check your boiler’s efficiency and reliability. If the boiler is not of the required standard, a new energy efficient boiler will be fitted free. If we repair your boiler, there is no charge for replacement parts and we provide free call outs and repairs for 12 months. Sounds good. Is there a catch? Truthfully, there isn’t one. At no point in the process will any payment be required from you or your tenant. If they are entitled to have their boiler repaired or replaced or loft insulted, it will be completely FREE of charge. We need to undertake a new EPC as part of the process so you’ll get that free too. What if I want additional work? We will be happy to discuss this after your property has been surveyed, though there may be a charge which will be explained to you. Who will complete the install? One of our experienced local, Gas Safe (CORGI) installers will design a system to suit your property. Visits will be arranged to suit your tenant.
