I seem to see a few fans worried about how the Howie Kendrick trade will affect the Angels moving forward. Well for those of you not closely following the Angel transactions this winter (cant always tell which of you are trolling), lets take a look at a rough depth chart Mr. Dipoto has put together heading into spring: 1st Base: Albert Pujols, CJ Cron, Efren Navarro 2nd Base: Josh Rutledge, Grant Green, Johnny Giavotella 3rd Base: David Freese, Josh Rutledge, Kyle Kubitza Shortstop: Erick Aybar, Josh Rutledge, Taylor Featherston Left Field: Josh Hamilton, Collin Cowgill, Matt Joyce Center Field: Mike Trout, Collin Cowgill, Daniel Robertson Right Field: Kole Calhoun, Collin Cowgill, Matt Joyce Catcher: Chris Iannetta, Drew Butera, Carlos, Perez, Jeff Bandy DH: Matt Joyce, CJ Cron, Albert Pujols, Josh Hamilton Starting Pitchers: Jered Weaver, Garrett Richards, CJ Wilson, Matt Shoemaker, Andrew Heaney, Hector Santiago, Nick Tropeano, Jose Alvarez, Tyler Skaggs Relief Pitchers: Huston Street, Joe Smith, Mike Morin, Fernando Salas, Cory Rasmus, Vinnie Pestano, Jeremy McBryde, Cam Bedrosian, Danny Reynolds Now Thats a good amount of depth, especially in starting pitching which was the area where the Angels depth was stretched last season. The bullpen is arguably on the thin side, but with Street & Smith still on the back end and hopefully more depth from the starters, that should work out. On the offensive/defensive side, the Angels are taking 9 rostered IFs, 7 rostered OFs and 4 rostered catchers to camp. Some of the IFs & OFs are interchangeable, and some other things - like the starting 2B job - will be a fun spring competition. So, point being that while the loss of Howie seems like it will hurt, I think Dipoto has quietly put together a very deep team that will be right back in the mix for the division title assuming everyone plays to their potential. Would love to hear everyones thoughts.
