I sent an email to the mayor after reading about this. Please do the same if you feel strongly about this! Dear Mayor Stodala, I am incredibly saddened to see the beautiful Oak trees on Main St. hacked down for no apparent reason. Were the Oak trees causing issues with parking? Impeding the sidewalk? Offering too much shade for pedestrians? Not only were these beautiful trees cut down, but they werent even cut down to a normal stump size. These nubs are now an eye-sore to anyone passing down Main St. Why was this necessary? Downtown is an eclectic and diverse area of community and culture; a beautiful representation of old meets new and a delicate balance of concrete buildings and green space. What did the city hope to accomplish by demolishing, quite literally, a breath of fresh air in one of our most heavily trafficked areas? I am sad and disappointed with the citys decision to do this. I hope there will be some further explanation from the city and hopefully an effort to right this unfortunate wrong. Signed a very disheartened constituent, Taylor Bradley Hubbard
