I sent the small dog March 1st Post & Comments to Annette Deglow, President of the C-GNA - regarding her stated desire to spit into separate sections for big/small dogs - like a few others around the city. Here is her response: Dog Park Inbox College-Glen Neigh. Assoc. 11:21 AM (4 hours ago) to me Hi Larry, Thanks for your e-notes, with reference to the request for a segment of the park being set aside for small dogs. We all agree that some small dogs do fine with larger dogs. And some large dogs do better with small dogs than large dogs. However, there are a number of small dog owners that are not comfortable putting their small dogs at risk with the larger dogs. No small dog owner wants to be that one exception to the rule at the expense of his or her dog. Owners of small dogs should also have a place to take their dogs for exercise and social time with other dogs more their size. When the park was first established it was understood that subsequently the City would set aside space for small dogs. This has not occurred and it is appropriate that this need be part of any park up-grade. As the most visible spokesperson for the dog park it is important that you present yourself as concerned for all dog owners. I encourage you to support an up-grade of the infrastructure of the park and an expansion of the park to include a section for small dogs. Councilmember McCarty’s office staff are more likely to support your efforts to improve the park if they believe that you are seeking to improve the park for all dog owners in the community and not just for your group. You have most of the park users in support of your effort. We need to work together to bring McCarty’s office on board with that effort. I believe this can happen and you are key to making it happen.
