I sent this email to my Congressional Rep, Joe Barton, TX, and posted it on his facebook page: Your survey is much too simple. The obvious answer is I do not want any further borrowing but I don’t want you to be an obstructionist. I WANT YOU TO NEGOTIATE A BUDGET THAT DOES NOT BREAK THE COUNTRY, ONE THAT IS FULLY FUNDED BY TAXES WHICH EQUAL AT LEAST 105% OF EXPENSES. I want you to participate in the formulation of a budget which is self funding, paid for by current taxes, and which pays down at least 5% of the current debt each year. I do not believe that the government should be able to fund current expenses with debt. My wish is to retire all of the debt in 20 years max. Also, I don’t want you to change Medicare other than to provide actuarially sound funding for the program. The voucher idea is not the answer. Medicare is an insurance program and it should be run just like a private insurance company, FREE from politics. Long-term pre-age 65 premiums should be adjusted to cover future costs and current premiums should also be adjusted to cover current payments. It would have been better to have extended Medicare coverage to all persons rather than to create a new and untried complicated system like Obama care. Also, Medicaid should be abolished and a premium assistance program should be provided to all who cannot pay their own Medicare premiums. Medicaid will break the States as well as the Federal Government because it is not funded. Long-Term Care is going to take us into Bankruptcy unless it is funded by Medicare premiums. My opinion is that the Federal government should spin off Social Security, Medicare/Medicaid, and Disability Insurance into a Tax Payer owned Mutual Insurance Company that is funded on an actuarially sound basis by payroll/social security benefit premium deductions, employer contributions and voluntary contributions from participants. The shareholders/taxpayers should elect the Board of Directors and they should appoint the Officers. GET THE GOVERNMENT OUT OF BUSINESS. I would appreciate a real answer from a real person for once. The only time that I got a real answer from your office is when I made an appointment and got to speak with one of your aids in your South Arlington office. Even then I didnt get an answer about what you really stand for. I hope that you will contact your Rep and tell him/her what you want them to do.
