I sent this out to my CACnews list this evening, but know I have different people in this group. 1. Retiring: I wanted you to hear it from me directly. Im retiring from the Army on 1 March 2015, I ended up serving 22 years, 3 months, and 29 days of active duty. I have about 26 years 3 months and 12 days total military service including Army National Guard, Army Reserve, and Regular Army. Im on my transition leave now until 28 February. 1a. Don’t worry about MilitaryCAC, I started a job with Unisys. They are the new contractor for the Army Enterprise Service Desk (AESD), you know 866-335-2769 aka AKO help desk? 2. New Job: Im the Training coordinator and part of strategic communications. They kind of made up the jobs to be able to hire me. I started on 5 January and I work remote with about 25% travel to our help desk locations in Georgia and Utah. So, I have a CAC and will have most of the same rights as the agents do when you call them. 3. MilitaryMAC: MilitaryMAC is now alive and is a redirect to militarycac/apple.htm this play on MilitaryCAC should help my Mac users remember where their portion of MilitaryCAC is. 4. Amazon: Setup Amazon purchase link page, this is a free way for you to help support MilitaryCAC with no out of pocket expense to you, please see more at militarycac/amazon.htm 5. PIV: Working a new PIV activation specific page at: militarycac/PIV.htm It seems these hidden certificates and getting the website to work is a mysterious thing. :) 6. VPN: Found a Soldier in Korea who runs a VPN site, this is great for military personnel stationed overseas who have problems accessing their Enterprise Email from overseas locations. militarycac/vpn.htm 7. Android CAC support: Thursby now has Android CAC support via an app and CAC readers. thursby/pkard-android 8. Problem with the websites security certificate: Created a guide to help fix this error message caused by a DoD Root certificate not being installed in the correct place. This guide shows people how to fix the issue: militarycac/files/dodrootca2.pdf 9. EES problems webform: With all the issues with Evaluation Entry System, their only support is via email, so, a webform was added to militarycac/ees.htm 10. Antivirus: Four Antivirus programs are now causing problems for people using their CAC on their computer, they are: Avast, AVG, Bitdefender, and McAfee. Read more at problem 12 on militarycac/faqs.htm 11. Lenovo laptops: In December, I started receiving phone calls from people who configured their systems correctly, but were still not being prompted to select their CAC certificate. One Navy person figured out that Lenovo decided to install a file titled: SUPERFISH INC VISUAL DISCOVERY. This file would stop the certificate selection box from coming up.
