I sent this to the GM and the BOD this am. Wake up HVL - sign the petition if you havent yet. Dear Board of Directors, Recently the BoD has shown a trend of rejection and dismissal of HVL committee members that appears to be based upon the members alignment with the majority of the Board. I personally was singled out along with Diane Dowling not to be on committees despite our membership to be in good standing. When I emailed admin as to requirements to serve on a committee, I was told just to be a member in good standing. We both were/are. I am not aware of a code of conduct for committee members but assume - given the recent pattern of decisions - that the Board does not approve of vocal or spirited opposing viewpoints or direct criticism of individuals. If this is the case I would call to your attention the recent posts from James Moores on the Hidden Valley Connections forum on Facebook referring to Inge Rankin and Kay Lopez as puppets. Despite the absurdity of the statement this is a clear example of a criticism of individuals that would seem to disqualify Mr. Moores as a candidate or member of any committee of Hidden Valley Lake. I do not agree with a de facto policy that squelches freedom of speech. Everyone should have the opportunity and forum to express their opinions regarding the actions of the Board and activities of HVL committees, subject to accepted social rules of behavior. However if the Board has adopted a policy of disqualifying people from seats on committees it is incumbent upon the Board to apply those standards fairly and unilaterally. It is clear that the tone of the exchange was set by Paul Russo, who referred to Bob Cummesky as a small person in an earlier post. There was plenty of mudslinging and personal critiques in the run-up to our recent election. Oppression tends to breed radical behavior among the oppressed. The fact of the matter is that Ms. Rankin and Ms. Lopez were supported and elected by a majority of reasonable, responsible, dues-paying homeowners, not a minority of rebels. I would imagine that Mr. Russo, while clearly vocal and opinionated, is not representing himself as a community leader or vying for any sort of official position within the community. Mr. Moores position or motivations are not clear to me but he certainly seems more connected to the current HVL establishment. In short, if you can dismiss Mike Gingerich from a seat on the board for his vocality and opinions then Mr. Moores should be rejected as a candidate and/or dismissed as a member of any HVL committee. Finally, a comment on a broader topic. The Board of Directors should view the last six months as a wake up call. We as a community are paying attention and are not satisfied with how youve conducted yourself over the last years and how youre spending our money. Your hubris and your arrogance will continue to have consequences. Were watching who you hire and fire. Were checking your facts. There are a thousand eligible voters who did not vote. If necessary we will reach them and let them know how their money is being spent. Are you willing to bet your Directorship on the opinion of the true majority? Kim Armstrong
