I shared a video yesterday about a bad time to have the throttle stick. We had a couple of instances this year at Schuss with this problem, both resulting wrecks. Terry Dowker, shared some info regarding this topic from his experience in off road and sprint car racing. Ill share our conversation and the pics with a copy and paste from our chat. Here is the video referenced: youtu.be/gXGRLSbYwus: This is the conversation. Just so you know, Terry is a premier engine builder and owns Dowker Engines with customers all over the world and an extensive history in racing and off road. We started using those switches after one of the sprint car drivers was killed here with a stuck throttle Is it your design? Almost everybody uses a toe hoop on there pedals,,but most stuck throttles are from linkage going past center or a rock or something where you cant pull the throttle back closed,,the first instinct is to pull back on the throttle,,so this switch you have to make a mount on your toe loop to put the switch on,,its a momentary switch so its only killed as long as you hold your foot against it,,push back on the throttle and it will re lite the engine,,it can be used on both magneto or electronic ignitions How would it perform in extreme off road? It would be great in that. No problems with jumping?? I have been looking to see if I had any pictures here, but Im not finding any. Ive never had any problems with my buggy. The switches are cheap,,like 25 bucks Well, I can think of all the savings cheap Thats why we went with momentary switches so it dont just kill it all the way,if you do bump it you know it and just push on the pedal and it re lights. Good idea Get a pic and some info together. Will do 22 hours ago Thats the switch attached to the toe loop of the pedal I have the switches themselves in stock,,instead of running the power wire for the ignition from an ignition switch straight to the ignition box, you run from the ignition switch to the safety switch and then to the ignition box.
