I shared this the other day while at the IAFC Fire Rescue International Conference in Dallas. It is well worth watching. Most Fire Companies are very aggressive with interior attacks on structure fires. But this will make you think about how what we do and the fact we have done it basically the same way for decades. But we have never truly taken into account the contents of a structure as well as the construction of those structures and how they have changed dramatically over the years, and how the contents burn much faster and hotter. The newer structures are now lightweight construction and fail faster. Take a look and start the discussion at your department. Should we change how we do things? Or do we stick with the if it aint broke dont fix it mentality? What are your thoughts?
