I should be speaking at a workshop in Volta Region next weekend on opportunities in agriculture for young people. Many will not agree with me but every venture in agric is viable if an effective demand is created. One thing that is pressing as a challenge is a ready and ongoing market. People need to develop their own farm business model. It should explain (Value Propositions) which details the bundle of products and services that create value for a specific Customer Segment although our marketing is larger informal. Time to think of Channels which is the how your farm business will communicate with and reach its Customer Segments to deliver the Value Proposition your customer wants is long over due. Other components include Key Resources you will need for the farm business, Key Activities and Cost Structure or pricing systems which a more detailed way to involve all costs incurred to operate a business model. I will not be pinpointing certain crops and type of farming as opportunities but my focus will be on Self - Labour, Access to Market, and Creation of Allied Opportunities with the local economy as a smart investment in agric has a multiplier effect in creating more economic opportunities spreading prosperity.
