I should obviously be more sensitive to the stress phone scammers - TopicsExpress

I should obviously be more sensitive to the stress phone scammers feel when rejected. I got a call from one tonight, and heres how it went: [pause after answering, alerting me to the use of some VOIP thingo and waving the first scam red flag] Scammer [over my 2nd attempt to say hello]: Hello? Hello? Me: Yes [pause for scammer to process my monosyllabic flat response] Scammer: Ah, hello. My name is Juan. Im calling from Telstra technical support. Me [as flatly as before]: Yes Scammer: Its about a virus attack currently underway on your computer. Me [apparently oblivious to the high level of drama hes shooting for]: Really? Scammer: Yes. Its extremely severe. If you go to your computer I will right now take you through how to fix it. Me: I dont have a computer. [pause for Juan to process this act of extreme BS] Scammer [with passion]: You bloody bastard! [Juan hangs up] So, really, I understand that Juans level of job satisfaction is probably pretty low, but am I supposed to put time into formulating a respectful brush-off?
