I should preface this by saying, I really love a lot of Aaron Sorkins writing. Its been a disappointment, though, in retrospect, not a shock to discover hes kind of a misogynist. Broke my heart a little, in fact. I was in the process of writing him a letter very much like this when Eliana Dockterman beat me to it. I think her challenge bears repeating because one of the oldest tenets of misogyny has been the assertion that women have no place in the sphere of ideas. Its disappointing to think that a man who seems to be so in love with politics and philosophy and thought itself missed the boat on that one. Women are chronically under-represented in Film & Television. Im with Eliana Dockterman on this one: If you dont think the scripts on offer for women are good enough, get into the fray with the rest of us and help write some that are.
