Orchestral music conductor and arranger André Kostelanetz was born today in 1901 in Saint Petersburg, Russia, into a prominent Jewish family. He escaped in 1922 after the Russian Revolution coming to the United States. He conducted concerts for radio in the 1930s, and began his own weekly show on CBS Radio. Kostelantez was a pioneer of easy listening music which hit a high in the 1950 and 60s. He died in 1980. I admit that I probably have everyone of his vinyl albums.
