I snuck off to town the other day to get some kennel supplies. Cowdog Hawk went along for our adventure to Menards & Lowes. I had to move it along to make the trip happen so I skipped breakfast. I did get up early to make coffee and get a few emails and messages answered. We left around 1 PM. I always tell Hawk when I get ready to leave the pickup, You be good. Ill be back. When I return she slowly crawls up on the console, takes her paw and requests a hug, she bops my face with her nose and I tell her, Get behind the seat. I decided that Id get my mom some onion rings before I went home. My fav. place was on the other side of town and it was getting on towards mid-afternoon so my choices were Longhorn or Chilis. I picked Longhorn. They didnt have onion rings but they had some onion bits and a horseradish sauce. I told the gal, Thatll do! I got a black & bleu burger, medium & fries and 2 to-go boxes. The waitress was fine and was one of those that asks you a question and before you reply she automatically says, Thank you. Like processing another calf down the alley to the chute. I got my bill and it was $18.83. So I filled out the receipt for $26.83, wrote Merry Christmas! on the receipt, picked up my to-go boxes, left, greeted Hawk at the pickup, drove on home, took my mom her onion bits, came back later and everyone of those onion bits were gone. I had to laugh, Lord, there was enough for 2 days. Bet we have to treat her for scours. And I wondered if that waitress enjoyed her afternoon and if I went back in a day or so if she would even remember the face. Food service folks have to put up with a lot of nonsense sometimes. Like waiting on the two women across from me that couldnt put their phones down to be nice to the waitress who was trying to provide them with good customer service. Same waitress, two different customers. Being nice and respectful is a good thing.
