I spend a lot of time posting various thoughts that are constantly running through my mind. The central theme of my postings are centered around the economic power, or lack thereof, of our people. How can such a Magnificent People remain stuck and stagnated at the very bottom of the socioeconomic ladder? Ill admit that while both of my children are college educated, I am not of the educated class, I am simply an average black man in America. I bring up the fact or limitations of my formal education because I am constantly in debate with those that do possess such educational credentials. It seems as though those with both an education and a desire to change the status quo of our people wish to do one thing when it comes to addressing our issues: TALK. They like to hypothesize about why and what needs to done to uplift our people out of the doldrums of society, they use pretty words and complex theoretical processes to explain what it is we need to do. I AM HERE TO CHALLENGE ALL OF THAT. There isnt anything wrong with us, we arent predestined to be the permanent underclass of America. The source of our current standing can be traced to one word, BELIEF. We no longer believe in ourselves and each other collectively, I look at postings all day on my newsfeed which includes testaments of deep beliefs in EVERYTHING except concepts or ideas that benefit US as a people. We place our belief in celebrity, religion, foolishness and believe it our not, Gym Shoes, WTF. The saddest part of not believing in each other is that others believe in us so stridently that they are willing to invest BILLIONS OF DOLLARS into what THEY believe is the mental stimulus of our people. The investment into the black mind isnt an experiment or charity, its a business transaction, nothing more and nothing less. Corporations will spend BILLIONS to recoup TRILLIONS. I have highlighted Lorillard, the manufacturer of Newport cigarettes, I have also highlighted Ralph Lauren, creator of the Polo brand. I do not criticize either, these men and corporations are here to do one thing, make profits. I question why we dont engage in servicing our own communities, why we allow others to profit so handsomely while we are content to being relegated just consumers. WE MUST BELIEVE IN EACH OTHER. Im going to highlight FOX, the network that is full of paid talking heads who constantly berate the POTUS. The Fox network was built off the black man, more specifically, programming that was designed to capture a black audience. The executives at Fox understand the purchasing power of our people and they used their nearly all black line up to build an audience of millions. That audience is then translated into total number of viewers, that number is then used as the justification for advertising rates on the network. The network used the income from the early black shows to build out a more white audience and eventually they canceled the black shows because they no longer needed the black audience, we were replaced by a more lucrative viewer, the white man and woman. This has been the standard operating procedure for any and all new networks, if you dont believe me just think back to the WB and UPN network, does the Jamie Foxx or Moesha show ring a bell? In closing, we must make an effort to change how we feel about each other, we must exhibit the same belief in each other as those whos only real belief is centered around putting a buck in their pocket.
