I spent an awesome day in the electorate yesterday. First I visited Onehunga High School where I met the staff and teachers. I also met with Michelle who leads the Musicians Music in Schools program. This sees 60 musicians going in to secondary schools to mentor young, aspiring musicians in composing music pieces. I then joined Sylvia Park School in their Samoan Language Week celebrations. It was fun to see Barb Alaalatoa and her awesome team alongside the talented kids. We enjoyed a student led program of dance, speech, skits and I also handed out the Principals Awards for the week! Finally, I went to St Marys School in Ellerslie who were celebrating their centenary jubilee. It was neat to see the staff, parents and former pupils. Also I really enjoyed seeing the Kohlhases, Foliakis and many others who make this school community special!
