I spent my afternoon with lawyers preparing to fight to defend my comrade and friend, a young African lady known as the UWC student hawker who sells boerewors rolls to pay her tuition, accommodation, travel and book fees, whom UWC is trying to expel from the institution. We shall never allow the dream of this child of the poor and working class to acquire knowledge & skills to liberate herself & her family from poverty, to be destroyed by the discriminatory neo-liberal offensive at UWC which divides students & workers on the basis of ones shade of blackness. This shall be a victory for justice, were also organizing media interviews for her as this story needs to be told for all to know the depths of racial discrimination at UWC. Just a few facts before I go to sleep: UWC has not even a single African in its Executive Management, UWC has not even a single African Dean across all its faculties, UWC has African entrepeneurs/vendors operating from informal establishments called containers which are supposed to be used for shipping with only two out of more than 12 entrepreneurs/vendors operation from within campus buildings, UWC has been involved in the arrest of two UWC students both of whom are African in the past two years, one of them in this lady, my friend - the student hawker spent her whole Youth Day long weekend in jail. Well, this war, we shall fight and we are confident of victory for justice. KUBO! Mabashwhe!
