I spent my last evening at Health South Rehab. Ian has really made the best of things while he has been there. Of course he is very ready to be home… but his time there has not been wasted. He has felt cared for. And he is grateful. He is a different person. This 3 weeks has changed him. It has changed us! How could it not?! We were watching some mindless TV and chatting about life, his future, his healing ahead and it all struck me…. this event was and is tragic and unfair. But God is using it, all of it. Nothing gets wasted. Not even boring life at a Rehab hospital waiting for the swelling in your brain to go down. For starters… Ian and I have spent hours and hours and hours of time. There has been healing between us. He told me tonight he wants to have only girls, because boys are mean to their mothers. :) (Check out the sweet text he sent me after I left tonight) Ive heard from strangers I have never met who are praying for us. Ive heard how Ians story has renewed the faith of some. Ive even heard how Ians encouragement for me to play tennis has even helped to save a marriage. God most definitely has His hand in it… I cant make this stuff up! The last 3 weeks of our lives have been hell in many ways…, but we wouldnt trade it for the world.
