I spent nearly 10 years as a uniformed volunteer in law - TopicsExpress

I spent nearly 10 years as a uniformed volunteer in law enforcement. The first half of my volunteer career was with the Tempe Police Department as a member of the Motorist Service team, with a goal to become a police officer. Much of what I did was focused on that goal, which I did later realize when I was hired as an officer-in-training with Tempe PD. I resigned prior to entering the police academy, deciding instead to focus on finishing my degree at Arizona State University--a decision I have never regretted. The second half of my volunteer career was with the Chandler Police Department (CPD) and my goal was simply to provide service in the community. I started as a volunteer with victim services and after one year, transferred to the Motorist Assist team where I spent the remainder of my time. The last half of my volunteer career was the best and most fulfilling. The men and women of the Chandler Police Department--sworn and non-sworn personnel--are some of the best with whom I have ever worked. We did a lot of good in the community and helped a lot of people. CPD is an exceptional law-enforcement agency! Perhaps when my life calms down, I might be able to volunteer with the Enfield Police Department. Enfield has a police auxiliary team that does much the same work that I did with Tempe and Chandler. I really do miss the fun and excitement of working on the streets. #TBT
