I spent the morning with the rescue horse. I cant wait to be able to share his picture and take video of him to show you. It is heart breaking to see an animal that has been hungry and so neglected - but man, does it feel good when they show you how grateful they are for your help!!! I have been working on just getting him cleaned up. He has a little rain rot in a couple places but more than anything, he is skinny and just filthy. He has manure and mud so caked all over his body that I can only scrub a small area at a time before he starts to complain. He doesnt have much meat over his bones and he lets me know when it starts to hurt. He was pretty good for his pedicure and we could get most of his rotten frog out (the frog is a sort part of the horses foot that is a lot like your cuticle.) His feet were in horrible condition from not being trimmed and cleaned out. He has a little crack in one hoof, but itll clear up once he has regular groceries. The farrier left his feet a little long because we were afraid of doing too much all at once and making him sore. (No feet, no horse.) I bought him a bag of peppermints and told him that they were from his pals on facebook... And I promised him hed never go hungry again.
