I spent the summer of 1985 in France. Claude and I left and my daughter went on vacation with her father. We were having visitation in France with Claudes three daughters and went to Rouen, France to pick them up. The mother had moved to Marseilles so we went to the Gendarme (police) to find out exactly where they were as she was to have the children prepared for their visit. When we got to Marseilles, she did not want to let the youngest daughter go, but she was obligated to do so legally. We spent some time in Vervielle sur Mer (Omaha Beach) but Claude has to return as he was expecting a shipment of merchandise from France and he had to deal with all the papers from Customs and with the delivery. When the merchandise arrived he had to unload the trailer. He returned to be with us and brought my daughter. We had to leave that area as it was all booked with people going on vacation. We found a place in Grandcamp (Utah Beach) near the Bar de Golf. Claude got us all set up and spent a little time with us and then he had to return to the States. After a short period of time he returned and we moved again to Biscarosse sur Mer. While we were gone someone was going to take care of our cat Champagne. We had Champange for several years, but she was just friendly on her terms. When we got back from France after visitation we found out that the cat had escaped and apparently had met up with a Tomcat. You would not have believed the change in her personality. She was so glad to see me. She would not let me out of her sight for very long after that. She followed me wherever I went. The minute I sat down she was on my lap. I couldnt even read the newspaper. She would jump on my lap and sit right on the paper. Too funny. She was very far along and she delivered her kittens one week after our return. I saw her looking around in our bedroom and Claude got a baby basket and put a second hood on the opposite side and we put it in the kitchen. She knew what it was for and she went there to have her kittens. I got to watch the kittens being born. We get attached to our animals but they also get attached to us.
