I spent this morning at a presentation by a big name corporation - TopicsExpress

I spent this morning at a presentation by a big name corporation at a fancy venue in the city. It was basically a shiny ego-boosting pitch. I observed a few things: 1. Its easy to get sucked in to free breakfast, coffee etc and feel like youre someone important and privileged to be invited to such an event; 2. Looking around the room individuals were on their smartphones either facebook/tweeting or doing email i.e. not paying any attention to the presenter. I wonder how many of the people attending were also feeling like their life energy was being sucked away for no real good reason. Which leads to the next point... 3. Corporate presentations are ego-driven, boring as heck and nothing said actually mattered. It sounded a lot like blah blah blah blah. I struggled to stay awake. 4. The money spent putting on such an event (I imagine thousands) would be much better utilised doing some real good in the world. It saddens me to see a room full of beautiful people pretending like they care about being there. Dont get me wrong, I did find value in attending this morning. 1. I am grateful for the opportunity to be reminded that a life without meaning is not a life at all. 2. It reminds me that the work that I am doing to help individuals connect to their hearts and dreams and create the pathway to realise their magnificence is extremely important. (and my work at Hub Australia and Warrior Women Mastermind Laos is part of that mission) As The Minimalists said the other night to close their talk: there are two non-renewable resources that are more valuable than money and we need to be very selective of how we spend them: our TIME and our ATTENTION. Make the choice to LIVE. Do work that matters. Its YOUR life. P.s. oooh I got a fancy free pen with a corporate logo on it! I feel so SPESH now :P
