I spent time ironing my shirts and shorts last night. And while doing that chore, I had the TV on. I was juggling between two movies Id seen before: The Matrix Revolutions and Die Hard 4.0. Now I am not nearly as smart as Sheldon Cooper from Big Bang Theory. Apparently, he still hasnt worked out the meaning of the plot of The Matrix Revolutions. So What chance have I got at understanding that stupid movie? But I tried...again. And as far as Die Hard 4.0 is concerned, well Bruce Willis looked remarkably unimpressed to be reprising his role as John Maclean. I did manage to enjoy myself shuffling between the two channels where these movies were playing, dodging the ads. Actually, the ads were probably better, more entertaining. About the best thing I could do was laugh and laugh derisively at the preposterousness of both films. My wife was disturbed and cried out from her office every time I hollered with incredulity at what I was watching. It was just soo pitifully corny! So full of silly throw away one-liners and cliches. So bizarre and impractical and soo lacking depth of imagination, except when it came to special effects, which were quite thrilling for the most part, though a little carried away at times. At least there were no Aussie actors in Die Hard, which I think tried hard not to take itself too seriously. But in Matrix Revolutions, there were at least three aussies - Hugo Weaving as the evil antichrist Agent Smith (oh oh!), Robyn Nevin and Francine Bell, both of whom played an elder of Zion. Francine Bell is from the USA originally. Hers was an interesting bit-part for a nice woman who is... and get this ... a practicing Seventh-day Adventist from Newcastle in NSW! When she was fronting the camera, I managed to maintain my composure. The rest of the time I watched I was laughing my head off. I met Francine in person at a Christmas program at Springwood SDA Church many years ago wear she was the star attraction, and I think she is a very talented singer and artist and is just pretty cool all round.
