I spoke on the House floor against Speaker Boehner’s lawsuit against President Obama. The lawsuit is a waste of time, a distraction against the work Congress should be doing – passing comprehensive immigration reform, pay equality, stopping urban gun violence, extending unemployment insurance. The to-do list is endless, as is the Republican campaign against our president. As a freshman, this is not what I came to Congress to do. I came here to make a difference, to have a public agenda, not a personal one and to help improve the lives of my constituents and my fellow Americans. Tactics like this lawsuit are the very reason the public has such a low opinion of Congress. We can and should do better.
