I started writing this a few hours ago but then somehow managed to press the wrong button and lost it before I posted it. bloody computers! (at that point we went to the pub). Anyway, what I want to do is first of all thank everyone who posted messages of support to Pete and myself during the run (OK, they were mostly for Pete, but hes younger and better looking than me). A lot of the comments were relayed to us while we were running but its only been today when Ive had a chance to read through the posts that Ive realised how many people were following our progress! I thank you all. But the biggest thanks of all go to the support team who made one of the most memorable weekends of my life possible. There is no way I could have got through the race without you guys. Niki was fantastic looking after base camp and keeping the porridge on tap , Katie and Mike just seemed to be everywhere as did Charlotte. Rosa, Adele, and Laura. Whatever I needed was there when I needed it, and always with a smile and words of encouragement. Veronica gets a special mention for mention for being half way up a tree on one lap! The guys from the Up and Running teams were also amazing (cheers Darren and the rest of you), although a couple of laps I went past their camp so fast they missed me (joke). But the main person that kept me going was Pete, I have never known anyone with the determination and guts to see a job through like he has. I am so proud of him and the fact that he is such an inspiration to so many people (including me). I also want to thank the guys who encouraged me to do the last lap (you know who you are), I was struggling with a groin strain that meant I could only walk and was thinking that I was done. But the thought of finishing the race with Pete kept me going for another lap. The bruises will fade, the muscles will recover and the toenails will grow back but those moments when Pete and I crossed the line together will be with me for the rest of my life. Thanks guys, from the bottom of my heart. xx
