I stayed the frigid (28 degrees this morning) night at Pirates - TopicsExpress

I stayed the frigid (28 degrees this morning) night at Pirates Marina Cove in Pickensville, Alabama. Im fortunate that my heater works well when plugged into electricity at the dock. Well see what happens tonight when Ill be anchored and wont have the shore power. Of significance to me about my visit to Pickensville is that Alabama is the 17th and final state Ill be visiting before returning to Florida. Ill be going to New Orleans for a college reunion next month but Ill be leaving the boat near Mobile rather than taking it to New Orleans. Pickensville is the home of the U.S. Snagboat Montgomery one of the last working steamboats in the U.S. Its job was to clear the rivers of all the debris, like the huge trees I saw floating down the Mississippi and Ohio rivers. I met the couple on the pontoon boat pictured and unbelievably theyre on the same 6,000 mile trip I am. Ive also met people in canoes doing the trip. I cant imagine doing it in those kinds of craft, but especially not on 28 degree nights!
