I stayed up late last night trying to phonetically spell out some of my made-up alien language from Under Different Stars for the audiobook director/narrator. (Things you dont realize youll have to do when youre writing.) That was interesting. I think Im a weirdo (self-diagnosed) because I was looking at words like spix (phonetically = spiks) and it made perfect sense to me in my head--its a horse with wicked-sharp horns. I know the inflection, the lexicon, and the nuance of it like its a real language. Explaining it on a spreadsheet, however, is a whole different animal, sort of like a spix, come to think of it. Heres the good news: Under Different Stars is going to be an audiobook soon!!! YAY!! The release of the new 47North version of Under Different Stars is December 9, 2014. I. Cant. Wait.
