I still find it funny how some people will find negatives out of doing something positive. For example, the ALS ice bucket challenge. Many people are doing it, myself included. For those who dont know, the challenge is to dump a bucket of ice water over your head or to donate $100 towards ALS research. I have actually seen negative posts being made because of it and I just shake my head. People saying that people look like idiots doing it, doing it for attention, etc. So let me just state some facts about how the ice bucket challenge has actually helped towards ALS research: As of Sunday, August 17, 2014, The ALS Association has received $13.3 million in donations compared to $1.7 million during the same time period last year (July 29 to August 17). These donations have come from existing donors and 259,505 new donors to The Association. (taken from the ALS website) So what if some people dont donate and just do the ice bucket challenge? You know what it may do though? Have someone who has no idea what the challenge is do some research and possibly donate towards that cause. Its just like someone who doesnt know what a pink ribbon means, doing the research, and then donating towards breast cancer. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but make sure to keep that negative stuff off my page.
