I still remember the Christmas at my Grandma Charlee and Grandpa Franks home. As the major video game nut that Ive pretty much always been, there have been few Christmases to compare to this one. My family arrived at their Mose Lake home one cold winter day (back when Washington STILL got actual snow) and moments later, my child eyes rested upon a peculiar blue-wrapped box. It was for me. I couldnt make out what it was by size, weight, or even shaking the contents. A wonderfully horrible mystery! Christmas was still a day away at least! Finally, the glorious day of our Savior came. In due time, I was handed that special blue box. I excitedly ripped off the wrapping, and with but a small window to its contents, I knew that I had been given a rich gift: Mario Paint. Nintendos venture into art on your home console. I must regress a moment: Our family didnt own a Super Nintendo. Just the original NES (thank you, Mom and Dad!). But that did not deter my immediate logical calculations! In less time than a 4-quad super processing chip in your smartphone, I had deduced that we boys had also been given - yet to have been unwrapped - a Super Nintendo. Of course, my Dad and my grandparents teased that that may or may not have been the case. But I knew plenty well that you cant play Mario Paint without an SNES. Sitting on the floor indian-style, I bounced on my butt all across the floor with glee and barely-restrained laughter and joy. Its perfectly apt that the title of this remix is Memory, for the very tune brings back not only this wonderful Christmas time with my family, but also the fun times of trying to draw and animate on the Super Nintendo given to my brothers and I. And...as a result...my brothers and I shared a lot of fun times playing other games together. Of course...I still cant get over how Kerry kept beating me with silly stupid upper-cuts with Ryu despite my clearly advanced skills with Guy (Street Fighter Alpha 2 angst...). youtu.be/XpQMSQwhvmw
