I still think this is the greatest American black metal album of all time. They took the best elements of second wave scandinavian bands and infused them with progressive, post rock, and doom metal and with such great conviction and execution. The atmosphere and way the songs are arranged make you feel as though youre going through a maze but conquering every obstacle or a battle but conquering every enemy. I dont understand why Krallice and Wolves in the Throne Room and Weakling keep getting put in the same categories other than they are all American bands who did/are doing something somewhat unique within black metal. https://youtube/watch?v=mnjH-ZYe59c
