I stopped to rest that afternoon near a small stream. The morning - TopicsExpress

I stopped to rest that afternoon near a small stream. The morning had been nice with the sun shining down warmly as the clouds floated by, giving shade to the earth every now and then as they were pushed along their way. I had past many birds singing their morning songs as I travelled that day, all welcoming the warmth of the day. It was a peaceful morning. I sat now, enjoying all. My whole being started to absorb all thing around me. The sites, the sounds, the feeling. I began to think, I will miss this when I have to travel to the Hunting Grounds someday. For now, I will enjoy as much as I can. My thoughts were broken up when a robin landed beside me. It stared into my eyes as if it was trying to figure out if I was a danger or not. After coming to the conclusion that I wasnt, the robin began to hop around at my feet, looking for food on the ground and under the leaves. I sat quietly, admiring the bird. Sometimes, it would stop from its digging and let out its bird song, looking around to see if he had any response. Another would call back and it would continue it digging. I thought, how simple a life this bird has. It feels no hate, no envy, no remorse, no sadness. It sings and looks for food all day. Plus, it can fly and see the earth from above. Suddenly, three more robins flew down and landed. I watched them and realised that one had a missing leg and the others held him up. Then I noticed another could not see and the others were his eyes. Finally, the last couldnt sing, he had no voice. Each one helped the other. I felt sad for them but I also felt their pride. The sadness dulled and I sat, watching. The robin that landed first came up to me. He looked at me as if to say, see, we are not as different as you think. I nodded and reached in my bag. I brought out the berries I had in there and spread them on the ground in front of the robins. They feasted and the three that could sang and the one that couldnt, danced. They did not dwell on their short comings but enjoyed the time they had today. It was a good day.
