I strongly oppose this development. It is totally unneeded. It will not increase employment, in my opinion, but just temporarily move employment. After 20 years or less it will just be another rundown half-empty strip mall, of which we have several. There are many non-wetland, non public, non-greenspace locations available for redevelopment in Rome. How much better to keep this in-town greenspace and public space as our area grows. In the future, at some point, the higher elevations of it might be a place for a civic center of some sort or recreation facility of some sort which would fit nicely between Ridge Ferry, Burwell Wetland, and Jackson Hill. Think of how a larger city, as ours will become, would prize a downtown Central Park. That being said, I am thankful for the leadership of CRBI helping to make sure that environmental concerns are considered and that, should our city be foolish enough to sell off our in town greenspace, at least some connection between Jackson Hill and Ridge Ferry will be preserved, and that the Burwell Wetland will be less affected.
