I subscribe to the idea that most people on here dont really care much what I do on a day to day basis, but the past week has been noteworthy so let me review. Tuesday 1/28 - Ice Storm: The biggest gulf-south winter event in a generation. Hattiesburg shuts down. State of emergency declared, citywide curfew imposed. Wednesday 1/29 - Weather issues continue. WCU baseball tarp is immobilized by 2 inches of solid ice. Thursday 1/30 - Travel Day: Delays on I-10 between Mobile and Pensacola amount to 3+ hours of highway standstill. Events include a young family driving into a ditch in an attempt to abandon the freeway and an old Ford pickup truck engulfed entirely in flames. Friday 1/31 - Rain postpones scheduled contest between WCU and Webber Int. In an attempt to work out at Webbers facility, 3 different GPS units take us to 3 different facilities, only the last of which was of any utility. Saturday 2/1 - WCU takes down #3 Embry Riddle in 10 innings and Webber Int. In 7. Sunday 2/2 - WCU drops game 3 to Webber. Ensuing return voyage to Hattiesburg was witness to the following: 1 eastbound 18 wheeler totally engulfed in flames (second burning vehicle of the trip), 1 multiple car pileup resulting in a traffic standstill of approximately 1 hour, 1 sick pitcher needing to stop for sprite and medicine, and a train derailment whose chemical spill required northbound traffic on 98 to be re-routed. Other than that, it was a pretty normal weekend.
