I suggest you follow my lead and draw an X on the wall somewhere in your house. You can bang your head on the X whenever the issue of separation of church and state arises. I have exhausted myself explaining to people that that Constitution was drafted by people who had actually lived under a monarch who was also the Head of the Anglican Church (following shortly after monarchs who were believed to be divinely appointed as such, and who had the full support of the Catholic Church). The freedom to CHOOSE ones expression of spirituality was limited to the religion of the reigning monarch. Unless you were willing to part with your head! WE can practice religion precisely as we wish til the sacred cows come home, but the government CANNOT SET UP A RELIGION THAT WE MUST ADHERE TO, or face punishment. There. Im done.
