I support UC in all its glory or should I say in all its secret powerful triumph, that new TV reality show is NOT UC.... by virtue of the safety-onlookers..... that said.... no onlookers (read here: DOCTORS, MIDWIVES, DOULAS, PHOTOGRAPHERS, or 3 YR old SIBLINGS).... will make you SAFE(R).... because you are already SAFE. YOU KNOW WHAT YOU NEED, MOMMA. that also said, ONLOOKERS can take AWAY from your safety but only if you let them. THAT is incredibly difficult to effect in a hospital setting where your autonomy is in jeopardy every moment ..... but in a HOME birth, you ARE IN CONTROL.... do NOT RELINQUISH your POWER to another..... do NOT ASK PERMISSION to do something ...... and do not expect someone else to make you SAFER than you already ARE......
