I swear if I hear one more person justify police brutality with Just dont break any laws and you dont have anything to worry about I am going to scream. How can you be so naive? Here are a few facts you should be aware of: 1. Innocent people go to jail all the time!! There is a whole organization dedicated to this problem. 2. We all know there is a difference between right and wrong but some dont seem to realize that the law isnt always right. Sometimes laws need to be broken for true justice to be served. Rosa Parks broke the law when she refused to give up her sit. She is now a hero because she stood for what was right. Others have been brutalized by the police for simply exercising their 1st amendment right, like Alice Paul who fought for womans right to vote. 3. We have a little thing called the 8th amendment. It prevents the government from imposing excessive bail, fines or cruel and unusual punishment. Excessive force is not only wrong, its illegal!! The police are breaking the law when they brutalize someone whether they have broken the law or not.
