I take an injection of a medication called methotrexate every - TopicsExpress

I take an injection of a medication called methotrexate every week. It is a low dose chemotherapy agent that shuts off my immune system to manage my Rheumatoid Arthritis. A couple weeks ago, I was filling the syringe from the vial and Chille was next to me because he likes to give me my shot as a doctor after I have the syringe in me - literally, he just pushes the plunger. Anyway, as I was filling the syringe, the vial exploded and the yellow methotrexate went everywhere. I cleaned it up. Then last night, it happened again, but I didnt have Chille in the same room, just in case. So this morning, I go to the pharmacy and explain everything. They quizzed me about if I did air exchange correctly, etc. I explained Ive been doing this for over 12 years, 52 weeks a year, so I am certain it was not a mistake of mine. So I refilled my prescription and took a new vial of methotrexate and right in front of the pharmacist, filled my syringe and the vial exploded, spraying the methotrexate everywhere. They called in a biohazard/hazmat team to clean it up, because it is toxic chemotherapy. But no hazmat team came to my house and cleaned it up. I commented. Most Americans think that their medication comes from the pharmaceutical company directly to their pharmacy. Thats not what happens. Its a commodity and is sold through middlemen who store it in public storage units and buy low and sell high from independent wholesalers. Why doesnt America change this and regulate where our medications come from? Who knows what Ive been injecting?
