I take it some of you are probably shocked to find out that Im a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints aka Mormon The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It shocked me even more to discover that the church is true. I can honestly say that the way the church found me was nothing short of divine invention. on Aug 13th of 2013, I was in the middle of studying the Book Of Revelations. To my amazement when I came to Revelations chapter 17, I came to know by the grace of God that the Catholic faith I was raised in since childhood had fallen into perdition. It hit me like a ton of bricks, I fell to my knees in the patio area behind my mothers house and began praying. I prayed with all my heart to God and asked him to show me the path I must take in this life, and to know which church had the truth. Sept. 8th of 2013, I was walking home from work that evening at about 8pm and crossed paths with what I thought at the moment were a couple of door to door sales ladies. But as they drew closer I noticed the two most important words on their name tags, Jesus Christ. A small voice inside said to me, Listen. Sister missionaries Jessica Poulsen and Abbey Chapmen began teaching me about the church and asked me a simple question, Do you believe that the Lord calls prophets?. Well to anyone who has read the bible should know that anytime Gods church was established on the earth, God always called a prophet. The prophets were given the priesthood authority and keys necessary for purpose of salvation of mankind on Earth. Now, what happened to the prophets of the old and new testament? They were rejected by mankind, just as the Savior was reject by most of mankind. Indeed Christ intended for Peter, his chief apostle, to preside over the church after his ascension. But just as the prophets of old were rejected, martyred, and died, so did all the apostles, the leaders Christ had chosen to oversee his church. With this the true church of Christ fell into the apostasy, or the Dark ages which most relate to more easily. Therefore the restoration of Christs church must have come to pass though gift of God through the hands of a prophet. I was baptized on Oct. 19th of 2013 and received the gift of the Holy Ghost through the proper priesthood authority by the laying on of hands Oct. 20th of 2013. I received the preparatory Aaronic Priesthood on Nov. 3rd of 2013 and was received into the office of an Elder of the higher, Melchizedek priesthood on May 25th of 2014. The Gospel has brought so much joy to my life. The atonement of Jesus Christ has truly freed me from the chains of addiction the adversary had upon me. I felt the Holy Ghost burn with testimony of the truth of it all and of Gods love for me so strongly in my heart that I treasure it above all things on Earth. Through reading and much study of all the scriptures, including the reading front to back of the Book of Mormon. I leave you with my testimony. I believe Jesus is the Christ, only begotten son of the living God, Savior and Redeemer, the very light and life of the world.I know he is risen and lives. I know Jesus Christ atoned for the sins of world. I love the Savior with all my heart, mind and strength. I Know the Book of Mormon is true, and Joseph Smith was called as the prophet of the restoration.I know that the noble birthright and authority of the priesthood have also been restored. I believe Thomas S. Monson is our prophet now. I know that as we apply the atonement of Jesus Christ to our lives, keep the commandment and stay truthful to the covenants we can make with our Father in heaven, we will be blessed.
