I talked to a news studio today about a freelance video producer - TopicsExpress

I talked to a news studio today about a freelance video producer job theyre looking to fill where theyll let me work from our home in Urbana and just send and receive footage from home. Ill only travel for meetings and shoots. I have thousands of dollars worth of software, such as UltraScope, DaVinci, Final Cut Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Sketchbook Pro and other various 2D&3D imaging, modeling and animation (Sculptris, Strata3D, Animation Master, etc.). Point is, Im raring to get some work going, but besides my Mac Pro still being way too glitchy to take on anything substantial (I could probably use Jodys MacBook Pro, for illustration and graphics jobs, but she really needs her computer and I need my own as well) and this is my issue. Im waiting for Mac Pro to be released. Honestly, had I not already made such an investment through the years on software, Id totally consider switching to a PC. Meanwhile, Im admittedly a bit rusty. Ive fallen behind in way of understanding what technologies are out there today and whats expected by a studio from my end when they say theyre wanting to hire me on as a freelance video producer in order to utilize my equipment and skill set for temp jobs that arise. Could any of you be so kind as to direct me or recommend me to information on building a professional broadcast quality editing & post production suite on a shoestring budget? I want to hand clients work in a timely manner and deliver it in an industry standard format that theyll expect and appear to not have missed a beat since the 90s when I was doing visual communication work for media venues and creative shops. Im still going to be doing illustrations, logos and lots of print work, but Im adding animation and photography/videography to my rep, Ill also still be colorizing, editing, cleaning/retouching videos and images, adding custom motion graphics (nothing in a can, everything made fresh). So, if any of you yay-hoos would be so kind to enlighten me on what I need to make my suite complete, please feel free to shoot me an email at gobrendon@gmail or post your comments on here. Thanks, in advance! -Brendon
