I talked with my friend Doug from Hudsonville yesterday about starting our early seeds. He has a 300,00 sq ft. High tech greenhouse facility and agreed to start around 6,000 plants for me. In years past Ive bought a majority if my plants, but this year Im starting everything from seed. Its much easier to get the varieties I want this way. Timing is critical too. Most plants for sale are root bound and have missed the best transplanting window. This translates to about a 3 week delay in harvest. Doug will be starting 75% of our seeds and Ill start the rest here in a heated portion of the hoop house. Hell do the ones that need to be started early, Ill do the later ones. Cant wait to get started!
