I taught today, 10th Grade Period 1. Reading Othello. I point out how (Act 4, Sc. 1) Iago plants the seeds of distrust in Othello and how we are being manipulated today. Some kid asked about his grades. I told them all I dont give a damn about your grades. I teach so they are not manipulated. Period 3. Sitting in a computer room where everybody knew what they were doing. I read. Kurt Vonneguts Harrison Bergeron, a story of equality in the future. We all wear a harness so we can carry upto 5000 # of steel ingots. No one could run, so we were all equal. It also shocked us when we had a thought, so no one thought. We were all equal. Periods 5 and 7. Review for the final. One girl twirled in an extra chair. I asked if she were having fun? She said yes. I told her the story of entertaining my 1 year old son by flicking the fringe on a table cloth. It is the wondrous, simple things in life that really count. A great day!
