I tell ya in 19 years of selling cars, there really are only 2 things about this business that truly bug the everlovin shit outta me. 1 is when a customer leaves you a deposit just so they can get your price on a particular vehicle in writing. I dont begrudge anyone the right to shop a deal....shop till your hearts content. But dont leave a deposit on a car only to cancel a day or 2 later because someone else beat my deal by a few dollars. Cuz that is just douchey. Car salespeople dont get paid by the hour. We get paid when you drive out of here in your new vehicle. And for people to pull a stunt like that, to waste my time, you truly are the lowest of the low. #2 thing that bugs me is when a customer tells me they want a car for $5000-$6000 and then complain to me that this is wrong or that is wrong and how theyre really not happy. A car regardless of make, model or age is STILL a depreciating asset. And for people who dont know what that means, it means it goes down in value the more you use it. So I have been saying for years, you would be better off buying something a little more expensive and save the repair money. Because, by the time youre finished with this or that, you could have had the newer vehicle. Remember a dealership is only required to fix just whats necessary to get a car to pass NYS inspection. Unless of course, you buy a Certified Pre Owned vehicle (which btw you pay extra for), then the car gets a top to bottom checkup and whatever is needing replacement is taken care of (among the other benefits you get). So before you get all riled up about the $5000, 100,000 mile plus, 2006 minivan having an issue with 1 of the power sliding doors. Remember this is what that price tag will get you every time. Thank you rant over.
