I thank you in the name of the most ancient order of monks in the world; I thank you in the name of the mother of religions; and I thank you in the name of millions and millions of Hindu people of all classes and sects. ... I am proud to belong to a religion which has taught the world both tolerance and universal acceptance... ~~~ Swamy Vivekanand, Speech at the Worlds Parliament of Religions, 11th September, 1893. Times have changed. Hinduism is now a scandalous expletive and Hindu intellectuals now shun any reference to Hindu, Hinduism, Ram, Temple in their erudite discourses. Political party(ies) have mauled and butchered the definition of Hindu. Perhaps Hindu religion, religious beliefs, and conventions have undergone phases of noble and ignominious perceptions. Perhaps we are genetically engineered to be anything but assertive. Perhaps that is the prime reason our land has been ruled by visitors, marauders, plunderers. And, perhaps, whenever some one in history tried to assert there always was some one to pull him down. We have surpassed our Vivekanands. We are ashamed of everything that could have been our magnificent legacy.
